About Us
We are a small sawmill serving the McHenry county area. Established in 2015 we expect to grow to serve home owners who want to turn there trees into valuable lumber.
The Double "D" comes from my lovely wife Deb who I was lucky to Marry over 25 years ago. We established the Double "D" Ranch in Hebron, Illinois in 1989. We raised four happy well adjusted children on the old Double "D" Ranch. Naturally when it came time to name the sawmill we used the Double "D" which stands for Deb and Dave. Deb is usually not on the business end of the sawmill but she makes sure to point out any mistakes I make, love that about her. I am a very good personal injury lawyer by day and do my sawing and woodworking on the weekends. We cut on shares and like when the land owner is willing to help. We have a manual sawmill thus sawing is labor intensive. Usually the trees selected to be turned into lumber have been damaged by storms, or died, yes we make valuable lumber from dead trees, provided the core has not rotted. Some times land owners want to turn a tree into a lumber so they can make a heirloom piece of furniture. Some want to make a cool bar top or fireplace mantle. With the Double "D" Sawmill we can cut the logs into what ever width you desire. You can not get lumber in any width you desire from the big box stores. We must charge extra if we hit metal in the logs because every time we hit metal it ruins the band saw blade. A new band saw blade is $35.00 We are located in Hebron, Illinois. Call to come visit if you want to view the sawmill in action. 815 861-4012 |
